    1. What is social media

Social media are websites and apps where you can share updates, photos, and messages with friends, family, and the world. Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube are the most popular.

    2. Getting started with Facebook

Go to facebook.com and create an account with your name and email. Add a profile photo. Search for friends and family by name and send them a Friend Request.

    3. Privacy matters

Set your posts to "Friends" instead of "Public" so only people you know can see them. Go to Settings > Privacy to control who sees your information.

    4. What to post (and what not to)

Share photos, life updates, and interesting articles. Never post your home address, vacation dates (burglars watch social media), financial information, or your Social Security number.

    5. Dealing with negativity

You can unfriend, unfollow, or block anyone. You can also hide posts from certain people without unfriending them. Social media should make you happy, not anxious.
