    1. Your phone is like a tiny computer

A smartphone is a small computer that also makes calls. It connects to the internet, takes photos, sends messages, and runs apps — small programs for specific tasks.

    2. The home screen

When you turn on your phone, you see the home screen with app icons. Tap an icon to open an app. Press the home button (or swipe up) to go back to the home screen.

    3. Making a phone call

Tap the Phone app (usually a green icon). Tap the keypad to dial a number, or tap Contacts to find someone. Tap the green call button to call.

    4. Sending a text message

Tap the Messages app. Tap the compose button (pencil icon). Type a name or number. Type your message in the box at the bottom and tap Send.

    5. Connecting to Wi-Fi

Go to Settings > Wi-Fi. Select your home network name and enter the password. Wi-Fi saves your phone data and is usually faster than cellular.
