How to Get Free Audiobooks from Your Library (Libby App)

Libby is a free app that lets you borrow audiobooks and ebooks from your local public library — right on your phone, with no late fees. Books are automatically returned when the lending period ends (usually 14-21 days). If you have a library card, you can start borrowing today.

Download the Libby app from the App Store or Google Play Store. Open it and search for your library. You will need your library card number (found on the back of your card) and your library PIN (often the last four digits of your phone number — check with your library if you are unsure).

Once signed in, browse your library's digital collection. Search for a specific title or browse by genre, bestsellers, or what is available right now. When you find something, tap "Borrow" to check it out right away, or "Place Hold" if someone else has it checked out (you will be notified when it is available).

For audiobooks, tap "Open in Libby" to start listening right in the app. For ebooks, you can read in Libby or send to your Kindle. Libby remembers your place across devices — start on your phone and pick up on your tablet.

If you do not have a library card, most libraries let you sign up online for free. Visit your library's website and look for "Get a Card" or "Register."
