Google Drive lets you share any file or folder with other people — whether they use Gmail or not. Sharing is one of the most useful things about cloud storage: instead of emailing large attachments, you send a link. The other person clicks the link and sees the file in their browser.
When you share something, you choose whether the other person can just view it, add comments to it, or actually edit and change it. This gives you control — you can let a family member see a photo album without being able to delete anything, or let a colleague edit a shared document together with you in real time.
There are two main ways to share in Google Drive: by entering someone's email address directly (they get an email notification) or by creating a shareable link that anyone with the link can open (no email required). The "anyone with the link" option is great for sharing with people who do not have Google accounts.
You can share individual files (a single document or photo) or entire folders (which shares everything inside). Sharing a folder is efficient when you have many files for the same project or person.
Managing sharing is straightforward — you can see everyone who has access to a file and remove their access at any time.
