    How to Share Photos With Family by Text or Email

    Sharing photos from your phone is easy once you know where the Share button is — here's how to send a single photo or a whole album.

    Open the photo you want to share

    Open the Photos app on your phone and find the photo you want to share. Tap on it to open the full-size view.

    On iPhone: tap the Share button — it looks like a square with an arrow pointing upward, located in the bottom left corner. On Android (Samsung, Pixel): tap the Share icon — it looks like three circles connected by lines, or an arrow pointing left, usually at the bottom of the screen.

    Choose how to send the photo

    A menu will appear with options for how to share. To send by text: tap "Messages." To send by email: tap "Mail." To share via WhatsApp: tap "WhatsApp." To share to Facebook: tap "Facebook." After choosing a method, you'll be taken to a new message with the photo already attached — type the recipient's name or phone number and send.

    Quick Tip

    To send multiple photos at once on iPhone: open the Photos app, tap "Select" in the top right, tap each photo you want (a blue checkmark appears), then tap the Share button. On Android, press and hold one photo, then tap others to select multiple, then tap the Share icon.

    Use AirDrop to share instantly with nearby Apple devices

    If you're sharing with someone who's physically nearby and they have an iPhone or iPad, AirDrop is the fastest option — it transfers photos instantly over WiFi without using any of your data plan. Tap ShareAirDrop → tap the person's name if they appear in the list. They'll get a notification on their device asking if they want to accept.

    Quick Tip

    AirDrop only works between Apple devices. For sharing with Android users, use text messages or email instead.
