How to Scan and Create QR Codes

Use QR codes to quickly access websites, menus, Wi-Fi, and contact information.

    1

    What is a QR code?

    ~15s
A QR code is a square barcode that contains information — usually a website link. Point your phone's camera at it to instantly open the link. They're on restaurant menus, business cards, product packaging, and event tickets.

    Scan with iPhone

    ~15s
Open the Camera app and point it at the QR code. A notification banner appears at the top. Tap it to open the link. No special app needed — the default camera does it.
    3

    Scan with Android

    ~15s
Open the Camera app and point it at the QR code. Most Android phones detect QR codes automatically. If yours doesn't, download Google Lens from the Play Store.
    4

    Create your own QR code

    ~15s
Visit qr-code-generator.com or use Canva (free). Enter a website URL, phone number, or text. Download the QR code image. Print it on business cards, flyers, or stickers.
    5

    Stay safe with QR codes

    ~15s
Be cautious of QR codes in unexpected places (stickers over real codes). Check the URL before opening. Don't scan QR codes from unknown emails. Scammers can create fake QR codes that lead to phishing sites.
