A PDF (which stands for Portable Document Format) is a type of file that looks the same on every device and every screen. When you save something as a PDF, the layout, fonts, and images stay exactly as they appeared. PDFs are great for saving important information — like a receipt, a form, an article, or an email — so you can read it later or share it with someone else.
Every major device and operating system has a built-in way to save things as PDFs, and none of them require extra apps or software. On iPhone and iPad, you use the Share button and the Print option. On Android phones, you use the Share button or a Print option in Chrome or other apps. On a Mac, you use the Print dialog and click Save as PDF. On a Windows PC, you use the Print dialog and choose "Microsoft Print to PDF" as your printer.
One of the most common uses for this is saving webpage content. If you find an article you want to keep, saving it as a PDF means you can read it later even without an internet connection, and the page will look exactly as it did when you saved it — with all the text and images.
You can also use this technique to save email confirmations, online receipts, boarding passes, bank statements, or any other information you want to keep a permanent record of. Once saved, you can organize the PDFs in folders on your phone or computer.
