    This is my Digital Estate Binder. It won't answer every question, but it will tell you where things are and who to call. Take your time. Most things don't need to be decided in the first 48 hours.

    First steps

    1. Breathe. You don't have to do everything today.
    2. Call the first person listed in Section 2 of this binder.
    3. If this is a medical emergency, call 911 first — come back to this later.
    4. Don't rush to cancel accounts or sell anything. Most of it can wait a few weeks.
    5. Find my will (see Section 4) before making financial decisions.
    Note to the reader: passwords are not written in this binder. They live in a password manager — see Section 7 for how to access it.

    • •Safe deposit box — but know that some boxes are sealed on death; check with your bank.
