    What "copy and paste" means

    Copy = grab text or a photo, hold it on a hidden clipboard.
    Paste = drop it somewhere else.

    Use it for: a phone number from a website to your contacts, a recipe link to a text, a long password from your notes to a login screen, an emoji from a friend's text into an email.

    iPhone — Copy and Paste

    Copy text:

    1. Press and hold a word until it's highlighted in blue.
    2. Drag the blue dots to grab more (or less).
    3. Tap "Copy" in the popup.

    Paste text:

    1. Tap where you want the text to go (a text box, an email, a search bar).
    2. Tap one more time — a popup appears.
    3. Tap "Paste".

    Copy a photo:

    1. In Photos, open the picture.
    2. Tap the Share button (square with arrow up) → "Copy Photo".
    3. Open Messages or email, tap in the message area, tap again, "Paste".

    Most useful daily uses

    • Copy a confirmation number from an email and paste into a tracking site.
    • Copy a recipe from a website and paste into your Notes app.
    • Copy a long password from a password manager and paste into a login.
    • Copy a phone number from a website and paste into your dialer.
    • Copy a long URL and paste into a text or email to share.
