    Sign documents on your phone or computer. No printer needed.

    Are e-signatures legally binding?

    Yes. The federal "ESIGN Act" of 2000 made electronic signatures equal to ink-on-paper for most purposes. Banks, lawyers, real estate, doctors, and government forms all accept them. (A few exceptions: wills and certain court documents still need wet ink.)

    Path 1 — Someone sent you a DocuSign or Adobe Sign email

    1. Open the email. Look for a "Review Document" or "Sign Here" button.
    2. Tap it. The document opens in your browser — no app needed.
    3. It walks you through page by page. Yellow tabs show where to sign or initial.
    4. Tap the yellow tab → it asks how to make your signature: type your name, draw with your finger, or upload an image.
    5. "Type" is fine and legal — it picks a fancy script font.
    6. When all tabs are done, tap "Finish" or "Submit".
    7. You'll get an email with a copy of the signed document. Save it.

    Path 2 — They emailed a PDF asking you to sign

    Use your phone or computer's built-in signing tool — free.

    iPhone / iPad:

    1. Open the PDF in Mail or Files.
    2. Tap the markup icon (pen tip in a circle) at the top.
    3. Tap the + → "Signature" → draw with your finger. (Saved for next time.)
    4. Drag the signature to the right spot. Tap Done.
    5. Email it back as a reply.

    Android:

    1. Open the PDF in Google Drive (free).
    2. Tap the pencil icon at the bottom.
    3. Pick "Drawing" → draw your signature with your finger.
    4. Save and share back.

    Mac:

    1. Open the PDF in Preview.
    2. Click the markup toolbar icon (pencil tip in a circle).
    3. Click the signature icon → "Create Signature" → use your trackpad or hold a hand-signed paper to your camera.
    4. Drag the signature onto the PDF.

    Windows:

    1. Open the PDF in Microsoft Edge (free).
    2. Click the "Draw" toolbar button (a pencil icon).
    3. Sign with your mouse, trackpad, or stylus.
    4. Save the file with "Save As".

    Stay safe

    • Never sign a document you didn't expect — pause and verify with the sender by phone.
    • DocuSign and Adobe Sign emails should ONLY come from docusign.net or adobesign.com. Hover over the sender to check.
    • Read the document fully before signing, just like a paper one.
    • The "signed copy" email is your proof — save it in a folder by year.
