How to switch from vet pharmacy

    1. Pick online pharmacy (Chewy easiest).
    2. Sign up. Add pet info.
    3. Order — they request prescription from your vet directly. Or you can ask vet for paper script.
    4. Vet faxes/emails approval.
    5. Pharmacy ships in 1-3 days.
    6. Set up auto-ship — never run out.

    Common drugs cheaper online

    • Apoquel (allergies) — vet $5/pill, online $3.
    • Trifexis (heartworm + flea) — vet $25/dose, online $18.
    • Heartgard — vet $12/dose, online $7.
    • Insulin (Vetsulin) — vet $80, online $55.
    • Most generics — Costco has them at HUMAN prices (way cheaper).

    Don't skimp on flea/tick/heartworm

Cheap online "flea/tick" meds from non-veterinary sources can be counterfeit or under-dosed. Buy from US-licensed pharmacies (Chewy, 1800PetMeds, vet) only. Avoid Amazon/eBay third-party sellers for pet meds.

    Costco Pet Pharmacy hack

If your pet is on a drug that has a human equivalent (like Prozac/fluoxetine, prednisone, antibiotics) — Costco pharmacy fills WITH a vet's prescription, often at $4-10 instead of $40+. Hand vet's script to Costco pharmacist. Don't need Costco membership for pharmacy.
