Amazon released Alexa+ in 2025 — a major upgrade to the Alexa voice assistant that powers Echo devices. It uses generative AI, similar to what powers ChatGPT. That means it can hold more natural conversations and remember what you said earlier in the conversation. It can also help with multi-step tasks, and connect to outside services like Grubhub, Uber, and Ticketmaster to take actions for you. Alexa+ works on Echo devices, either through a subscription or as part of Amazon Prime.
