    1

    Download the Eero App

    ~15s
Search for "Eero" in the App Store or Google Play Store and install the free app. You will need an Amazon account to continue — you can create one for free during setup if you do not have one.
    2

Connect the First Eero to Your Modem

    ~26s
Use the included Ethernet cable to connect the first Eero unit to your modem. Plug the Eero into a power outlet. Wait about 60 seconds for it to power up — the light on the unit will turn white when it is ready.

    Quick Tip

Place the main Eero unit as close to your modem as possible. If your modem and main Eero are in a closet, that is fine — the other units will extend coverage from there.

    3

    Follow the In-App Setup

    ~15s
Open the Eero app and tap "Set up Eero." The app will ask you to scan the QR code on the bottom of your Eero unit. Follow each screen until the first unit shows as connected.
    4

    Add More Eero Units

    ~23s
Plug additional Eero units into power outlets in rooms with weak Wi-Fi. Add each one through the app by tapping "Add Eero" and scanning its QR code. The app will confirm each unit is connected to the network.

    Quick Tip

For best results, place satellite units roughly halfway between the main Eero and the room you want to cover. Walls and floors reduce signal — the fewer obstructions between units, the better.

    5

Set Your Wi-Fi Name and Password

    ~15s
In the app, tap the Network tab, then Settings. Here you can change your Wi-Fi network name (also called an SSID) and password to something you will remember. All your devices will use this same name for the whole home.
    6

    Test Coverage and Finish

    ~15s
Walk through your home with your phone connected to Wi-Fi. Open a website or video in each room to confirm the connection is strong. The Eero app also shows a signal strength indicator for each unit under the Network tab.

If your home has rooms where the Wi-Fi signal drops out or becomes too slow to use, a mesh Wi-Fi system can help. Unlike a traditional router that broadcasts from one spot, a mesh system uses two or more small units placed around your home. These units communicate with each other and create one unified network — so your phone or tablet connects to the best unit automatically without you ever switching networks.

Eero, owned by Amazon, is one of the most popular mesh systems because the setup app walks you through everything step by step. You do not need any technical knowledge to get it working.

Before you start, make sure you have your modem (the device your internet provider gave you) nearby and that it is plugged in and working. You will also need to download the free Eero app on your iPhone or Android phone.

The first Eero unit plugs directly into your modem using an Ethernet cable. This becomes your main router. Any additional Eero units you buy act as range extenders — plug them into power outlets in rooms where the signal is weak, like a back bedroom, upstairs hallway, or garage.

During setup, you will create an Amazon account if you do not already have one, since Eero requires it. Then the app guides you to scan a QR code on the bottom of each Eero unit to add it to your network.

After setup, walk through your home with your phone and check the Wi-Fi signal in every room. The Eero app shows which devices are connected and lets you rename your network, change the password, and see network activity.

Eero also offers an optional subscription called Eero Secure (about $3–10 per month) that adds content filtering, ad blocking, and parental controls. This is entirely optional — your Eero works fine without it.

If you use Amazon Alexa, Eero integrates with it so you can ask Alexa to pause the Wi-Fi for certain devices or check network speed by voice.

For comparison: Eero is the simplest to set up. Netgear Orbi has stronger range but costs more. TP-Link Deco offers the best value if you want to cover a larger home on a budget.
