How to Make Text Larger on Facebook

Reading Facebook can be a strain when the text is small. Posts from family, comments from friends, and messages can all feel cramped on a phone screen, and even on a computer, the words can look thin and hard to read. The good news is you can make Facebook text larger without losing the photos, the videos, or any of the features you enjoy.

There are two main ways to do this. The first way is through your phone's main settings, which makes text bigger in Facebook and in most other apps at the same time. This is a great choice if you find text too small in many places, not only Facebook. The second way is to change the zoom level inside your web browser if you use Facebook on a computer. This affects only the website you are looking at, so other programs stay the same.

On iPhone, the setting is called Display & Text Size. On Android phones, it is called Font size or Display size, depending on your phone brand. Both work the same way: a slider lets you pick from small to very large. You can move the slider, see a preview, and pick the size that feels comfortable. On a computer, you can press the Ctrl key and the plus key together (or Command and plus on a Mac) to zoom in. Each press makes everything bigger.

You can change the size as often as you like. If a setting feels too big, move the slider back. The Facebook layout will adjust to fit the new size, with photos and buttons staying in the right place. Many seniors find that bumping up the text size a notch or two makes Facebook much more enjoyable, with less squinting and less need to hold the phone close to your face.
