They accept and set up their own profile. Their monthly fee is added to your bill. They can only use one device at a time and cannot share their account further. This is the legal way to keep your adult child on your account after they move out.

What happens if someone tries to watch from outside your household without an extra member

Netflix detects the outside login within a few days. It sends the outside viewer a message: "It looks like you're not part of this account's household." What to do if Netflix says your home device is outside your household
