Organizing email with folders or labels makes it much easier to find an old message and keeps your inbox from feeling overwhelming. Gmail calls them labels; Outlook and Apple Mail call them folders — they work the same way.
A simple system works best: one folder for each big category (Bills, Family, Work, Travel) rather than many tiny ones. Most people do not need more than five or six.
