Open PowerPoint Online and choose a theme

    ~28s
Go to office.com and sign in. Click the PowerPoint icon from the app grid. On the PowerPoint home screen, click New blank presentation, or scroll through the templates to find a design that fits your topic. Themes like "Office Theme," "Facet," or "Ion" give your presentation a polished look without any extra effort.

    Quick Tip

You can change your theme at any time by clicking the Design tab in the top toolbar and choosing a different option — all your slides will update at once.

    2

Add a title slide and content slides

    ~27s
Your first slide is the title slide. Click on the large "Click to add title" box and type your presentation title. Click the smaller subtitle box below and add your name or a short description. To add more slides, click the + New Slide button in the left panel or go to Insert then New Slide. Choose a layout for each new slide — "Title and Content" is a good all-purpose choice for slides with a heading and bullet points.
    3

    Insert an image

    ~30s
Click on the slide where you want the image to appear. Go to Insert in the top toolbar and click Pictures, then This Device to upload a photo from your computer. Once the image appears on the slide, you can click and drag it to reposition it, and drag the corner handles to resize it. You can also search for free stock photos by choosing Online Pictures from the Insert menu.

    Quick Tip

Keep images relevant and not too small. A single clear image often makes a stronger impression than several small ones crammed onto one slide.

    4

    Rearrange your slides

    ~18s
Look at the panel of slide thumbnails on the left side of the screen. To move a slide to a different position in your presentation, click on its thumbnail and drag it up or down in the panel. To delete a slide you no longer need, right-click on its thumbnail and choose Delete Slide.
    5

    Run your slideshow

    ~24s
When you are ready to present, click the Slide Show tab in the top toolbar, then click From Beginning to start your slideshow from the first slide. Click the mouse or press the right arrow key to move to the next slide. Press the Escape key at any time to exit the slideshow and return to editing. Presenter View (available in the Slide Show menu) shows your notes privately while the audience sees only the slides.
    6

    Save and share your presentation

    ~23s
Your presentation saves automatically to OneDrive. To download it as a .pptx file that opens in any version of PowerPoint, click File then Save As then Download a Copy. To share with others, click the Share button in the top-right corner and choose whether to invite specific people or generate a shareable link. Recipients can view or edit the file in their own browser without any software installed.

PowerPoint Online is Microsoft's free, browser-based presentation tool. You do not need to buy software or install anything. Visit office.com in any web browser, sign in with a free Microsoft account. And you can start building slideshows right away. Your presentations save automatically to OneDrive. And you can run your slideshow directly from the browser.

A presentation — sometimes called a slideshow — is a series of screens (called slides) that you show one at a time. Each slide can hold text, images, charts, or other visuals. PowerPoint Online gives you everything you need to make a clean, professional presentation for a meeting, a family gathering, a church group, a school project, or any occasion where you want to share information visually.

When you open PowerPoint Online, you will see a large blank slide on the right and a panel of smaller slide thumbnails on the left. The toolbar at the top has tools for inserting images, adding text boxes, choosing layouts, and changing the visual design of your entire presentation with one click.

Giving your presentation a consistent look is one of the most important things you can do. PowerPoint Online's design themes handle this for you — choose a theme and every slide will automatically use matching colors, fonts, and backgrounds. You do not need any graphic design experience.

When you are ready to present, you can run your slideshow right in the browser window. PowerPoint Online even offers a Presenter View that shows you your speaker notes and the next slide on your screen while the audience sees only the current slide.
