Google Home devices (now Google Nest) are smart speakers and displays powered by Google Assistant. They answer questions, play music, control smart devices, make video calls (screen models), and more. Setup takes about 10 minutes.

Plug in your Nest device — speakers chime and lights pulse, displays show a setup message. Download the Google Home app and sign in with your Google account (if you use Gmail, you already have one).

Tap "+" → "Set up device" → "New device." The app finds your Nest device and plays a confirmation sound. Connect to WiFi by selecting your network and entering the password. Personalize: set your address, default music service, link your calendar, and set up Voice Match so Google Assistant recognizes your voice specifically.

Voice Match lets the assistant give personalized calendar, commute, and music for each household member. Set it up for everyone who uses the device.

Test by saying "Hey Google, what is the weather?" or "Hey Google, play jazz music."
