Download the app and log in

    ~25s
Search for "State Farm" in your phone's app store. Download the app and open it. Tap "Log In" and enter your email address and password. If this is your first time logging in digitally, tap "Register" and enter your policy number along with your name and date of birth to create your account.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: Your State Farm policy number appears on your insurance card, your most recent billing statement, or any letter from your agent.

    2

    Access your insurance ID card

    ~16s
From the home screen, tap on your auto policy. Look for "ID Card" or "Proof of Insurance." Your digital card appears on screen and includes your policy number, vehicle details, and coverage dates. This is legally accepted in all US states as proof of insurance.
    3

    Make a payment

    ~25s
Tap the "Payments" section from the bottom navigation or the home screen. You will see your current balance and due date. Tap "Pay Now" to make a one-time payment, or choose "Set Up AutoPay" to have the amount automatically withdrawn each month. You can pay using a bank account, debit card, or credit card.

    Warning

If your payment is more than a few days late, your coverage may lapse. Set up autopay or calendar reminders to avoid accidental gaps in coverage.

    4

Chat with Jake the virtual assistant

    ~20s
Tap the chat icon or find "Jake" in the app menu. Type your question in plain English — things like "How do I add a driver?" or "What does my deductible mean?" Jake responds quickly and can walk you through many tasks on his own. If your question is too complex, he will connect you to a live agent.
    5

    File a claim

    ~27s
Tap "File a Claim" from the main menu. Select the policy the claim applies to and describe what happened. You can upload photos of damage, enter the date and location of the incident, and submit your claim directly in the app. You will receive a claim number and can check on its progress in the "My Claims" section.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: Take clear photos of all damage from multiple angles before moving vehicles or making any repairs. Good photos help speed up the claims process.

State Farm is the largest property and casualty insurance company in the US. Their mobile app — called State Farm — gives customers a direct line to their policies, billing, and claims without ever picking up the phone.

The app is free and available for both iPhone and Android. You log in with your State Farm account email and password. If you do not have an account yet, you can register inside the app by providing your policy number and personal details.

Once you are logged in, the home screen shows all the policies you hold with State Farm — auto, home, renters, life, or a combination. Each policy can be tapped to view details, see upcoming payments, and access your insurance ID cards.

The State Farm app includes a virtual assistant called Jake — named after the popular advertising character. Jake can answer questions about your policy, help you find information, and guide you through tasks like changing your address or adding a vehicle. He is available around the clock and handles many routine requests without you needing to speak to a person.

For billing, the app lets you view your payment history, make a payment, and set up automatic withdrawals. You can also choose paperless billing to receive documents by email instead of mail.

If you need to report a claim, the app walks you through each step, including uploading photos and getting connected with your local State Farm agent or a claims representative.

Many State Farm customers also use the app to connect with their personal agent. You can message them directly or schedule a call without going through a main phone line.
