Switching from Android to iPhone is straightforward with Apple's "Move to iOS" app, which transfers your contacts, message history, photos, videos, web bookmarks, mail accounts, and calendars. Free apps that exist on both platforms are also suggested for download.
Before switching, make sure your Android phone is connected to WiFi and has enough battery (or is plugged in). Download the "Move to iOS" app from the Google Play Store on your Android phone. Do not start this process after you have already set up your iPhone — you need to do it during the initial iPhone setup.
Turn on your new iPhone and begin setup. When you reach the "Apps & Data" screen, select "Move Data from Android." Your iPhone will display a code. Open the Move to iOS app on your Android phone and enter this code. The two devices will connect and you select what to transfer.
The transfer can take anywhere from a few minutes to over an hour depending on how much data you have. Do not use either phone during the transfer. When complete, finish setting up your iPhone.
After setup, open the App Store and download the iPhone versions of your apps. Sign in to each with your existing accounts. Your contacts and photos should already be on the new iPhone.
Note: some Android-specific features do not exist on iPhone, and vice versa. You gain iMessage, FaceTime, AirDrop, and tight integration with other Apple devices. You may need to adjust to differences in how notifications, file management, and customization work.
