How to Organize Tasks and Build Habits with TickTick

TickTick is a free to-do list and habit tracker app that helps you manage daily tasks, shopping lists, and goals across your phone and computer.

    1

    Download and create your account

    ~15s
Search for "TickTick" in the App Store or Google Play and install the free app. Create a free account with your email address. Your data will sync across any devices where you install TickTick with the same account.
    2

    Create your first list

    ~15s
Tap the "+" button to create a new list. Name it something like "Grocery Shopping," "Home Tasks," or "Doctor Appointments." Choose a color to help identify it visually. Tap "Create." Lists appear in the left sidebar — you can have as many as you need.
    3

    Add tasks and set reminders

    ~26s
Tap inside a list to add a new task. Type what needs to be done. Tap the clock icon to set a reminder date and time — for example, "Call pharmacy" with a reminder for Tuesday at 10 AM. Tap the flag icon to mark tasks as high priority. Tap the checkmark circle to complete a task.

    Quick Tip

You can also type due dates naturally: "Call pharmacy tomorrow at 10am" and TickTick will automatically understand and set the date and time.

    4

    Set up a daily habit

    ~21s
Tap the "Habit" icon at the bottom of the screen. Tap "Add Habit." Choose a habit type (like exercise, drink water, take medication, or create your own). Set how often you want to do it (daily, weekdays, certain days). TickTick sends you a daily reminder and lets you check off the habit each day. Your completion rate and streak are tracked automatically.
    5

    Use the calendar view

    ~20s
Tap the Calendar icon at the bottom to see all your tasks and reminders laid out by day and week. This gives you a clear picture of what's coming up. Drag tasks to different days to reschedule them. Tap a day to see what's planned.

    Quick Tip

Tap the grid icon in the top right to switch between day, week, and month views.

TickTick is a task management and habit tracker app available on iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows, and as a web app. It's one of the most highly rated to-do apps available, praised for being both capable and approachable for everyday users.

With TickTick, you can create shopping lists, set reminders for appointments, manage household tasks, track habits you want to build (like drinking water daily or taking a walk), and organize your day with a simple calendar view.

The app syncs across all your devices — add something on your phone and it appears on your computer instantly. This makes it useful for keeping shared lists with family members (a shared grocery list, for instance) as long as everyone has TickTick installed.

TickTick has a generous free version that covers everything most people need: unlimited tasks, reminders, calendar view, and habit tracking. A paid subscription ($27.99/year) adds features like more calendar integrations and a Pomodoro timer, but the free version is excellent.

Many people find TickTick replaces a combination of sticky notes, paper lists, phone reminders, and calendar apps by bringing everything into one organized place.
