How to Use Apple Reminders Like a Pro

Get more out of the free Apple Reminders app with lists, due dates, location alerts, and sharing with family.

    1

Open Reminders and make a new list

    ~15s
Tap the Reminders app icon on your iPhone. Tap "Add List" at the bottom, name it (like Groceries or Weekend), pick a color and icon, and tap Done.
    2

Add a reminder with a due date

    ~15s
Tap New Reminder at the bottom. Type what you need to do. Tap the small "i" icon next to the item and turn on "Date" to set when you want the reminder to pop up.
    3

    Add a location-based reminder

    ~15s
Tap the "i" icon again and turn on "Location". Pick a place like Home, Work, or a specific store. The reminder will appear on your phone when you arrive or leave that spot.
    4

    Share a list with family

    ~15s
In the list, tap the icon at the top right that looks like a person with a plus sign. Send an invite to family members — once they accept, everyone can add and check off items.
    5

Use Siri to add reminders hands-free

    ~15s
Say "Hey Siri, remind me to call Mom at 7 PM" or "Remind me to buy milk when I get to the store". Siri will add the reminder with the right time or place, no typing needed.
