    1

Download the Health Mate app and create an account

    ~19s
Search for "Withings Health Mate" in the App Store or Google Play and install the free app. Open it and tap "Create Account." Enter your email, create a password, and fill in your profile details including height, birth date, and sex — these are used to calculate BMI and body composition measurements accurately.
    2

Add your scale in the app

    ~29s
In the Health Mate app, tap the plus button and select "Add a Device." Choose your scale model from the list. The app will walk you through connecting the scale to your home Wi-Fi network — you will need to enter your Wi-Fi password during setup. Keep your phone and scale close to your router during this process.

    Quick Tip

If your Wi-Fi has both a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network, connect the scale to the 2.4 GHz network. Most smart home devices work more reliably on 2.4 GHz.

    3

Step on the scale and let it recognize you

    ~32s
After setup is complete, step onto the scale with bare feet. The scale will take a reading and sync it to the app automatically. The first time you weigh in, the app may ask you to confirm which profile matches the reading. After that, the scale learns to recognize each household member by weight and assigns readings to the correct profile automatically.

    Warning

Body composition measurements like body fat percentage are less accurate for people with pacemakers or other implanted medical devices. Check with your doctor before using these measurements if you have an implanted device.

    4

Check your trends in the app

    ~29s
Open Health Mate and tap your weight card on the home screen to see a detailed chart of your weigh-ins over time. You can switch between weekly, monthly, and yearly views. The app draws a trend line through your data so you can see the overall direction of your weight even if individual days fluctuate.

    Quick Tip

Weight naturally varies by a pound or two each day based on water, food, and time of day. Weigh in at the same time each morning before eating for the most consistent results.

    5

Share data with your doctor or other apps

    ~21s
In Health Mate settings, tap "Connected Apps" to link your scale data to Apple Health, Google Fit, or your doctor's patient portal if supported. You can also export a summary PDF from the app to email to your doctor before a weight-related appointment. This gives your care team an accurate picture of your weight trend rather than a single in-office number.

A Withings smart scale looks like any other bathroom scale, but after you step on it, your weight and other body measurements automatically appear in an app on your phone within seconds. There is no writing numbers down, no manual logging, and no guessing. The data is organized into charts so you can see your progress over days, weeks, and months at a glance.

Depending on the model, a Withings scale can measure not just your weight but also your Body Mass Index (BMI), body fat percentage, muscle mass, and even your bone mass. It does this using a safe, low-level electrical signal that passes through your feet — a technique called bioelectrical impedance analysis. This is painless and takes less than a second.

The free Withings Health Mate app stores all your measurements and shows long-term trends in a straightforward format you can read at a glance. You can set a goal weight and the app will show you how close you are and how your trend is heading. Family members can each have their own profile on the same scale — the scale automatically recognizes different users by weight range.

The Health Mate app connects to Apple Health, Google Fit, and many other health apps, so your weight data flows into your overall health picture without any extra steps.

Withings scales connect to your home Wi-Fi, so data syncs even if your phone is in another room. You step on, you step off, and your numbers are already logged by the time you get back to your phone.
