    Know the defaults

    By default, most AI services (ChatGPT, Gemini) may use your conversations to train future models. This is usually disclosed in the terms of service.

    Turn off training

    ChatGPT: SettingsData Controls → turn off "Improve the model." Gemini: Activity controls → turn off Gemini Apps Activity.

    Quick Tip

    Turning off training data sharing does not affect how the AI works for you. It just means your conversations are not used to improve future models.

    Never share sensitive info

    Don't paste passwords, social security numbers, medical records, or confidential business data into any AI chatbot.

    Anything you type into an AI chatbot could potentially be seen by the company that runs it. Never share passwords, bank details, or medical records.

    Use incognito/temporary chats

    ChatGPT's "Temporary Chat" mode and similar features in other AIs don't save history or use your data for training.
