    1

    Search for a recipe

    ~21s
Go to allrecipes.com in your browser, or download the Allrecipes app from the App Store or Google Play. Use the search bar to find a dish by name, main ingredient, or occasion. Use the filters to narrow results by dietary restrictions, cook time, or rating.

    Quick Tip

Sorting results by "Most Popular" or "Highest Rated" quickly surfaces recipes that have a strong track record with home cooks.

    2

Read the reviews before you commit

    ~15s
Scroll past the recipe instructions to the Reviews section. Focus on recipes with 100 or more reviews and a rating above 4 stars. Read a handful of reviews — people often share useful modifications and tips that improve the recipe.
    3

Adjust the serving size and save to your recipe box

    ~18s
On the recipe page, find the serving size number near the ingredients list. Tap or click it and enter how many people you are cooking for. All ingredient amounts will recalculate. Then tap the bookmark icon (or "Save") to add it to your personal recipe box.
    4

    Cook using Cook Mode

    ~15s
When you are ready to cook, open the recipe and tap "Switch to Cook Mode." The screen displays one step at a time in large text and stays on so you do not have to keep tapping your phone. Swipe to move between steps.

Allrecipes is one of the most popular cooking websites and apps in the United States, and for good reason: every recipe has been submitted and reviewed by real home cooks. You are not reading instructions written by a professional chef in a test kitchen alone — you are reading feedback from thousands of people who made the exact dish in their own kitchens, with their own ovens, and often with their own substitutions.

That community layer is what makes Allrecipes particularly useful. When you open a recipe, scroll past the ingredients to the reviews section. Look for recipes with at least 100 reviews and a rating of 4 stars or higher — those are the ones that genuinely work. Pay attention to what reviewers changed. Comments like "I reduced the salt by half" or "I added an extra clove of garlic" give you a head start on making the recipe even better.

To find a recipe, search by dish name (like "chicken soup"), by main ingredient (like "zucchini"), by occasion (like "Thanksgiving"), or by category (quick meals, one-pot dinners, slow cooker, baking, and more). You can also filter by dietary restrictions including gluten-free, low-carb, dairy-free, and vegetarian.

When you find a recipe you like, save it to your recipe box by tapping the bookmark. Create a free account to keep your saved recipes organized. If you are cooking for more or fewer people than the recipe serves, tap the serving size number and adjust it — Allrecipes recalculates all the ingredient quantities automatically.

Adding items to a shopping list inside the app is a tap away. Cook Mode keeps the screen on and walks you through instructions one step at a time.

The Dinner Spinner feature is a fun option for when you cannot decide what to make. Spin the virtual wheel to get a random recipe suggestion based on meal type, main ingredient, and cook time.
