How to Share Photos and Videos with Family

Easy ways to share precious moments with family near and far using your phone.

    1

    Shared albums (best method)

    ~15s
Create a shared album that family can view and add to. Google Photos: Library > + > Shared Album. iCloud: Photos > + > New Shared Album. Invite family by email or phone number.
    2

    Send via text message

    ~15s
Open a photo, tap Share, then Messages. Select the contact. Photos send as attachments. For multiple photos, select several before sharing. Quality may be reduced for large files.
    3

    ~15s
Share > Mail. Email works well for 1-5 photos. For more, use a shared album or cloud sharing link. Gmail allows attachments up to 25 MB; Google Drive handles larger files.
    4

    AirDrop (Apple to Apple)

    ~15s
Both devices need Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on. Select photos > tap Share > AirDrop > choose the person. Photos transfer in full quality in seconds. Only works between nearby Apple devices.
    5

    Share a Google Photos link

    ~15s
Select photos > Share > Create Link. Send the link via text, email, or any app. Recipients can view (and optionally download) without needing a Google account.

    Digital picture frames

    ~15s
Frameo and Aura are digital frames that family can send photos to from anywhere. Buy one for grandparents — their frame automatically displays new photos you send. No setup needed on their end.
