Most streaming services let you download movies and shows to your phone or tablet for watching without internet — perfect for flights, road trips, or areas with poor cell service. You need a paid subscription (downloads are not available on free plans) and enough storage space on your device.
Netflix: open the app, find a movie or show, and tap the download icon (arrow pointing down). Downloaded titles appear in the "Downloads" section of the app. Not all titles are available for download — look for the download icon.
Disney+: tap the download icon on any movie or show page. You can download on up to 10 devices.
Amazon Prime Video: tap the download button on any Prime-eligible title. Choose video quality (higher quality uses more storage).
Hulu: only the No Ads plan supports downloads. Tap the download icon next to eligible episodes.
Apple TV+: tap the download icon on movies and shows in the Apple TV app.
Downloads expire after a set period (usually 30 days if you have not started watching, or 48 hours after you press play). Re-download if needed.
To manage storage: go to your streaming app's settings → Downloads. You can see how much space downloads are using and delete ones you have finished watching. Lower video quality saves storage space.
