Download the GEICO app and log in

    ~24s
Open your phone's app store and search for "GEICO Mobile." Download and open it. Tap "Log In" and enter your GEICO username and password. If you do not have an account, tap "Create Account" and enter your policy number, zip code, and date of birth to get started.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: Your policy number is printed on any paper or email from GEICO. It usually starts with several digits followed by a dash.

    2

Pull up your digital insurance ID card

    ~18s
From the app's home screen, tap "ID Cards" or look for your policy listed on the home page and tap it. Your insurance card will appear on screen with your policy number, vehicle details, and coverage dates. This is accepted by police officers and at the DMV in all 50 states.
    3

Pay your bill or set up autopay

    ~25s
Tap "Billing" or "Make a Payment" from the main menu. You will see what you owe and when it is due. You can pay immediately with a bank account or credit card, or set up automatic payments. Autopay can be set for the full balance or a minimum payment each month.

    Warning

Make sure your payment information is kept up to date in the app. A lapsed payment can cause your coverage to be suspended.

    4

Add a driver or vehicle to your policy

    ~20s
Tap "Policy Details" and then look for "Add Driver" or "Add Vehicle." You will fill in basic information — name, date of birth, and license number for a driver, or the VIN and mileage for a vehicle. Some changes take effect immediately, while others may require a follow-up from GEICO to finalize the rate adjustment.
    5

    Request roadside assistance

    ~25s
If you are stranded, tap "Roadside Assistance" from the app home screen. Confirm or adjust your location, then choose what kind of help you need — tow, jump start, fuel delivery, flat tire, or lockout. The app shows you when a technician is on the way and how long until they arrive.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: If your phone battery is low after an accident, take screenshots of your ID card and the claim confirmation before the phone dies.

GEICO is one of the largest auto insurance companies in the United States, and their mobile app is one of the most downloaded insurance apps in the country. It lets you do almost everything related to your policy without calling anyone or visiting a website on a computer.

The app is free and works on both iPhone and Android. Once you are signed in with your GEICO account, you have access to your policy details, billing history, and insurance documents — all in one place.

The digital ID card feature is particularly useful. Instead of keeping a paper card in your glove box, your insurance information is always on your phone. If you get pulled over or are in an accident, you can show the officer your current coverage right on your screen.

GEICO's app also has a feature called "Virtual Assistant" — a chat tool that can answer common questions about your policy, help you make changes, and walk you through processes like adding a vehicle or updating your address. It is available around the clock, so you are not stuck waiting for office hours.

For roadside emergencies, the app includes a one-tap button to request help. Whether your car has a dead battery, a flat tire, or you are locked out, you can send your GPS location to a service technician and track when they will arrive.

If you are a GEICO customer and have not downloaded the app yet, it is worth taking five minutes to set it up. Having your insurance information available on your phone can make a stressful situation — like a fender bender on a rainy night — a lot more manageable.
