    Open Google Sites

    Sign in to your Google account (your Gmail account works). Open a new browser tab, go to sites.google.com, and click the plus (+) button or "Blank" to create a new site. You can also choose from a small selection of theme templates on the right side of the screen before starting.

    Set your site name and page title

    Click the text at the top left where it says "Untitled Site" and type your site's name — this appears in the browser tab and in Google search results. Click the main heading area on the page to type your page's title. These two names can be the same or different, depending on your preference.

    Add content using the insert panel

    On the right side of the editor, find the "Insert" panel. Click "Text box" to add a paragraph of text anywhere on the page. Click "Image" to upload a photo. Click "YouTube" to embed a video by pasting a YouTube link. Each element is added to the page and can be repositioned by dragging. Click any element to edit or delete it.

    Add more pages

    On the right side of the editor, find the "Pages" panel. Click the plus (+) button to add a new page — give it a name like "About Us," "Events," or "Contact." New pages automatically appear in your site's navigation menu. Click into each new page to add its content.

    Warning

    Google Sites does not have a password-protection feature on the free version — your published site will be visible to anyone who has the link. Do not publish sensitive personal information like phone numbers or home addresses on a public Google site.

    Publish your site

    Click the "Publish" button in the top right corner. You'll be asked to choose a web address — type something short and memorable (for example, "sites.google.com/view/smithfamilyupdates"). Click "Publish" to confirm. Your site is now live and you can share the address with friends and family. Every future edit also requires you to click Publish to push changes live.
