    Download the Hopper app

    ~25s
Hopper is only available as a mobile app — there is no desktop website for booking. Search for "Hopper" in the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android) and install the free app. Open the app and create an account using your email address or sign in with Apple or Google.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: Allow Hopper to send notifications during setup — this is how the app tells you when prices change or when you should book.

    2

    Search for a flight

    ~15s
Tap the "Flights" option on the Hopper home screen. Enter your departure city, destination, and travel dates. Hopper will show you a color-coded calendar with pricing across different dates. Tap any date to see the cheapest available fares for that day.
    3

    Read Hopper's recommendation

    ~27s
At the bottom of the search results, Hopper displays a recommendation in plain language: "Book Now" (prices are expected to rise), "Wait" (prices are predicted to drop), or a middle-ground message with context. Below this, you will see how confident Hopper is in its prediction and roughly how much you might save by waiting.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: Hopper's predictions are based on historical patterns, not guarantees. If your travel dates are flexible, the recommendations are most useful. If your dates are firm, booking sooner often reduces uncertainty.

    4

Watch a trip for price changes

    ~21s
If you are not ready to book yet, tap "Watch This Trip." Hopper will monitor the price and send you push notifications when it changes. You can view all your watched trips in the "Trips" tab in the app. When Hopper sends an alert saying a fare has dropped to a good price, you can book directly from the notification.
    5

    Book through the app

    ~28s
When you are ready to buy, tap the flight you want and follow the steps to enter passenger details and payment information. Hopper accepts credit cards, debit cards, and Apple Pay. You will receive a booking confirmation by email. All future communication about your flight — including changes or cancellations — will come from Hopper's support team.

    Warning

If your flight is canceled or you need to make a change, contact Hopper's customer support rather than calling the airline directly, since Hopper made the booking on your behalf.

Hopper is a travel app that analyzes flight price history and uses that data to predict whether prices are likely to go up or down in the coming days. Instead of booking a flight the moment you search for it, Hopper recommends the best time to buy — sometimes telling you to book immediately and sometimes suggesting you wait a few more days for a better price.

The app uses color-coded pricing calendars that make it easy to see at a glance which travel dates are cheapest. Green dates are inexpensive, yellow dates are moderate, and red dates are expensive. This helps you choose travel dates with cost in mind rather than just convenience.

Hopper's "Watch" feature is one of its most popular tools. After you search for a flight, you can tap "Watch This Trip" and Hopper will monitor the price and send you a notification when the price changes significantly. If the price is predicted to rise, Hopper will recommend booking soon. If it is predicted to fall, it will suggest waiting.

One feature Hopper offers that airlines and other booking sites do not is "Price Freeze." For a small fee (usually $5 to $20), Hopper will lock in the current price for a flight for up to 14 days. This lets you think about a trip or wait for travel approval without risking the price jumping before you decide. If the price drops during the freeze period, you get the lower price.

Hopper books directly within the app — you complete the entire purchase without being redirected to another website. Customer support for bookings made through Hopper is handled by Hopper's own team.
