YouTube Premium is a paid subscription that removes ads and lets you play videos in the background. Some people sign up for a free trial and then forget to cancel, while others tap "Start Trial" by accident when a promotional pop-up appears. Either way, canceling is straightforward once you know where to look — and you have until the end of your current billing period to keep access after you cancel.

To cancel on a computer: Go to YouTube.com and sign in. Click your profile picture in the top right corner, then click "Paid Memberships." Find YouTube Premium in the list and click "Manage." Then click "Deactivate" or "Cancel membership" and confirm. On an iPhone: Go to the Settings app (the gray gear icon), tap your name at the top, then tap "Subscriptions." Find YouTube Premium in the list and tap it, then tap "Cancel Subscription."

On an Android phone purchased through Google: Open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile picture in the top right, tap "Payments & subscriptions," then tap "Subscriptions." Find YouTube Premium and tap it, then tap "Cancel subscription." If you signed up through a different service (like your TV provider or Amazon), you will need to cancel through that service instead — look for a charge on your bill to find where it was set up. After canceling, you will still have Premium access until the end of the month you already paid for, and you will not be charged again.
