The Health app comes built into every iPhone. And it is one of the most useful tools for keeping an eye on your weight. You do not need to buy any extra apps or pay a monthly fee. Once you start logging your weight, the Health app draws a chart showing the past week, month, six months, or year. That picture helps you and your doctor see whether your weight is steady, rising, or dropping. To find the Health app, look for a white icon with a red heart on your home screen. If you cannot find it, swipe down on the home screen and type Health into the search bar. Open it and tap Browse at the bottom right. From the list, choose Body Measurements, then Weight. Tap Add Data in the top right corner. Type today's date, the time, and your weight in pounds. Tap Add to save it. That number now lives in your Health profile. And it stays private on your iPhone — Apple does not share it with advertisers. If you have a smart scale that supports Apple Health, such as a Withings or QardioBase, you can pair it once and your weight will save itself every morning. To pair a scale, open its companion app, go to Settings, and turn on Apple Health permission for Weight. After a week of daily readings, return to the Weight screen and tap Show All Data to view a trend line. Tap W, M, 6M, or Y at the top to switch between week, month, six-month, and yearly views. If you want to share results with your doctor, tap the share icon and email a PDF or take a screenshot. Talk with your clinician before making big diet changes based on what you see.
