    Opening System Settings

    Click the Apple menu (top-left) > System Settings. Or click the System Settings icon in your Dock. Use the search bar at the top to find any setting quickly.

    Wi-Fi and Network

    ~15s
    Click Wi-Fi in the sidebar. Connect to networks, forget old networks, and check your connection status. Network section shows all connections and allows advanced configuration.

    Display settings

    Click Displays. Adjust resolution (choose "More Space" for more screen real estate or "Larger Text" for readability). Adjust brightness. Night Shift reduces blue light in the evening.

    Sound settings

    Click Sound. Adjust output volume, choose input/output devices (speakers, headphones). Enable "Play sound on startup" if you want. Set alert sounds and volume separately.

    Notifications

    Click Notifications. Control which apps can send notifications and how (banners, alerts, badges). Disable notifications for apps that bother you. Enable Focus modes for quiet times.

    Users & Groups

    Manage user accounts. Set up separate accounts for family members so everyone has their own files and settings. Set login options and automatic login preferences.

    Software Update

    Click General > Software Update. Check for macOS updates. Enable "Automatic updates" to stay current. Updates include security patches, bug fixes, and new features.

    Time Machine

    Click General > Time Machine. Set up automatic backups to an external drive. Time Machine saves hourly snapshots of your entire Mac so you can restore any file from any point in time.
