    How to Manage Disk Partitions on Windows

    Create, resize, and manage disk partitions using Windows Disk Management.

    Open Disk Management

    Right-click the Start buttonDisk Management. You'll see all drives and partitions.

    Shrink a partition

    Right-click a partition → Shrink Volume. Enter the amount of space to free up.

    Create a new partition

    Right-click unallocated space → New Simple Volume. Follow the wizard to format and assign a drive letter.

    Extend a partition

    Right-click a partition → Extend Volume (only works if there's unallocated space directly after it).

    Be careful with system partitions

    Never delete or modify the System, Recovery, or EFI partitions — these are essential for Windows to boot.
