Most people think Peloton is only for people who own the expensive stationary bike. That's not true. The Peloton app gives anyone access to the full library of classes — including yoga, strength training, stretching, walking, running, meditation, and cycling — on any phone, tablet, or TV.
The Peloton app library has tens of thousands of classes taught by real instructors. Classes run anywhere from 5 minutes to 90 minutes. You can filter by length, instructor, difficulty, music style, and type of workout. Whether you want a 10-minute morning stretch or a 45-minute full-body strength session, there's something available right now.
The app works on iPhone, Android, iPad, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku. On a phone or tablet, you can prop the screen up and follow along. On a TV, the screen is large enough to see the instructor clearly and follow every movement.
Peloton offers a free trial period (typically 30 days) so you can explore everything before deciding whether to pay for a subscription. After the trial, the All-Access Membership — which is what you need for the full class library — runs around $24 per month. A lower-cost App Membership tier is also available at roughly $13 per month for a more limited selection.
You do not need a Peloton bike, treadmill, or any special equipment for most of the strength, yoga, and stretching classes. Some cycling classes work with any stationary bike, and some running classes are designed for outdoor use with your phone in your pocket.
Peloton instructors are motivating and encouraging without being aggressive. Many users find that taking a class with a live instructor — even through a screen — keeps them more accountable than working out alone.
