Petcube is a small home camera designed specifically for pet owners. It lets you watch a live video feed of your pet from your smartphone, wherever you are — whether you are at work, running errands, or traveling. The camera connects to your home Wi-Fi and streams video directly to the Petcube app on your phone.
Most Petcube cameras also include two-way audio, which means you can not only hear your pet but speak to them through the camera's built-in speaker. Many dogs and cats will perk up when they hear their owner's voice, which can be comforting for both of you.
Petcube makes a few different models. The Petcube Cam is a basic video camera with two-way audio. The Petcube Bites is a more advanced model that includes a treat dispenser — you can press a button in the app to launch a treat for your pet to catch. There is also the Petcube Play, which includes a laser pointer you can control remotely.
Setup takes about fifteen minutes. You will need a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network and a smartphone. Petcube cameras work with iPhones and Android phones.
Petcube also offers an optional care subscription (around $5 to $10 per month per camera) that adds features like 30-day cloud video storage, motion alerts, and sound alerts. Without the subscription, you can still view live video at any time, but recordings are not saved. The cameras themselves start at around $50.
