    1

Download PicsArt and explore the home screen

    ~37s
Search for "PicsArt" in the App Store or Google Play and install it. Open the app — a free account is optional for basic use, but creating one (with email or Google/Apple sign-in) lets you save projects to the cloud. The home screen shows a feed of community artwork. The large purple plus (+) button at the bottom center is how you start any new project: editing a photo, creating a collage, drawing, or generating AI art.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: Scroll through the community feed for a few minutes to see what kinds of projects other people make. This gives you ideas for your own projects and shows you what the app is capable of.

    2

Edit a photo with filters and adjustments

    ~29s
Tap the plus (+) button and select "Edit Photo." Choose a photo from your camera roll. The editing interface opens with the photo centered. Tap "Effects" at the bottom to browse filters — each one shows a small preview on your photo thumbnail. Tap a filter to apply it, then use the strength slider that appears to reduce the intensity if it looks too strong. Tap "Adjust" to access manual sliders for Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Sharpness, and Fade. These give you more precise control than filters alone.
    3

Add text or stickers to your photo

    ~29s
While editing a photo, tap "Text" to add a caption or label. A text box appears on the photo — type your message, then choose a font from the library at the bottom. Change the text color by tapping the color swatch. Resize and reposition the text by dragging with one finger or pinching with two. To add stickers, tap "Sticker" and search for a subject — for example, "stars," "birthday," or "summer." Tap any sticker to add it, then drag and resize it on the photo.
    4

    Create a photo collage

    ~42s
Tap the plus (+) button and select "Collage." Choose the photos you want to include (up to 10 for most templates). PicsArt shows a variety of grid layout options — tap any to see how your photos fit into it. Drag a photo from one cell to another to swap positions. Pinch to zoom inside any cell to adjust the crop. Use the Style and Background options at the bottom to change the border thickness, corner rounding, and background color or pattern between photos.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: Collages with an odd number of photos — three or five — often look more dynamic than even-numbered grids. A three-photo layout with one large photo on the left and two smaller ones stacked on the right is a classic arrangement that works well for travel and event photos.

    5

    Save and share your creation

    ~26s
When your project is finished, tap the arrow or checkmark icon at the top right. On the next screen, tap "Save" to download the image to your phone's camera roll, or tap "Share" to post it directly to Instagram, Facebook, or another platform. PicsArt gives you a size option for download — choose the highest resolution available for the best quality. Your project is also auto-saved in your PicsArt profile so you can reopen and edit it later.

PicsArt is a free creative app for iPhone and Android that combines photo editing, sticker and text overlays, collage templates, drawing tools, and AI image generation into one platform. It is used by more than 150 million people worldwide, from social media creators and graphic design students to hobbyists who want to make fun, personalized photos.

Unlike apps that focus on one type of creative task, PicsArt is designed to be a single destination for multiple creative projects. You can edit a vacation photo, add text and stickers to create a social media post, then generate an AI-created image from a text description — all without leaving the app.

The editing tools cover the basics well: brightness, contrast, filters, cropping, and a background remover. The collage maker lets you arrange multiple photos into grid layouts or blend them with freeform placement. The sticker library has millions of options, and you can search for specific subjects or styles. User-created stickers are shared within the community, so the library is constantly growing.

AI features have been added throughout the app in recent versions. You can generate an image by typing a description — "a golden retriever on a beach at sunset" — and PicsArt creates an image using that text. You can also apply AI effects to your photos, including turning them into sketch drawings, watercolor paintings, or anime-style illustrations.

PicsArt is free to use with ads. A PicsArt Gold subscription removes ads, unlocks the full sticker and template library, and provides access to additional AI tools. The free version is comprehensive enough for most casual users. Learn more at picsart.com.
