Printing from your phone is more useful than you might think — boarding passes, shipping labels, recipes, photos, directions, medical forms, and documents can all be printed directly from your iPhone or Android without needing a computer.
The key requirement is a wireless printer. Most printers made in the last 5 to 10 years support wireless printing. Your phone and printer need to be on the same WiFi network.
On iPhone (AirPrint): Apple's built-in printing system is called AirPrint, and it works with most modern wireless printers. Find the document, photo, or web page you want to print. Tap the share button (the square with an upward arrow). Scroll down in the share menu and tap "Print." Your phone searches for printers on your network. Tap "Select Printer" and choose your printer from the list. Adjust options like number of copies and page range if available. Tap "Print."
On Android: Open the document, photo, or web page. Tap the three-dot menu (or the share button) and look for "Print." If you do not see it, tap "Share" and then look for "Print." Your phone searches for printers on your network. Select your printer, adjust settings, and tap the print button. If your printer does not appear, you may need to install your printer manufacturer's app (like HP Smart, Canon PRINT, or Epson iPrint) from the Google Play Store.
For photos: open the Photos or Gallery app, select the photo, tap share, and choose "Print." You can print photos on regular paper or on glossy photo paper if your printer supports it.
For web pages: while viewing the page in your browser, tap the share button or the three-dot menu and look for "Print."
If your printer is not wireless, some printers support USB connections through an adapter. Alternatively, you can use a printer manufacturer's app to print from your phone to a wired printer connected to a computer.
