How to Use the Sam's Club App to Skip the Checkout Line

The Sam's Club app has a "Scan & Go" feature that lets you scan items as you shop and pay from your phone — completely skipping the checkout line. Here is how to set it up.

Download the app and sign in

Search "Sam's Club" in the App Store or Google Play and install the free app. Open it and sign in with the email address linked to your Sam's Club membership. Your digital membership card is automatically available under "Membership."

Find Scan & Go

On the app's home screen, tap "Scan & Go." The first time, you will be asked to confirm your payment method (add a credit or debit card). Once set up, Scan & Go is available every visit — tap it as soon as you enter the store.

Scan items as you shop

Point your phone camera at the barcode of each item before placing it in your cart. The item and price appear on your running total. Continue scanning as you shop. If an item does not scan, look for the barcode on a different side of the package.

Quick Tip: Scan heavy items (water cases, pet food bags) while they are still on the shelf — then lift directly into your cart or basket.

Pay and get your QR code receipt

When you are done shopping, tap "Pay Now." Review your total and any savings. Apply any Plus member benefits. Confirm your payment method and tap "Place Order." A QR code receipt appears on your screen.

Show receipt to exit greeter

Walk to the exit. A team member at the exit will scan your QR code and may glance at a few items in your cart to verify. This check takes 10–15 seconds. Then you are free to go — no checkout lane interaction at all.

Warning

Do not close the QR code screen until the exit greeter has scanned it. If your screen locks, unlock it and reopen the receipt before reaching the exit.

The Sam's Club app includes a feature called "Scan & Go" that changes how you shop at Sam's Club. Instead of loading items into a cart, pushing to a checkout lane, waiting in line, unloading, and reloading — you use the app to scan each item's barcode as you put it in your cart.
