A Ring Video Doorbell lets you see, hear, and talk to whoever is at your door from your phone. It records video and sends motion alerts. Most models can be installed with basic tools.
Download the Ring app, create an account, tap "Set Up a Device" → "Doorbells," and scan the QR code on the back of the Ring. The app guides you through WiFi connection.
For battery-powered models: position the mounting bracket at about 4 feet from the ground, mark and drill screw holes, attach the bracket, and snap the Ring onto it. For wired models: turn off power at the breaker, remove your old doorbell, connect the two wires to the Ring's terminals, mount it, and turn power back on.
Test by pressing the doorbell button — you should receive a notification and see live video. Adjust motion sensitivity in the app to reduce false alerts. Use Motion Zones to focus detection on your porch and walkway only.
Ring Protect subscription plans let you save and review video recordings. Without a plan, you still get live video and motion alerts.
