Connecting Spotify to your smart speaker lets you play any song, album, playlist, or podcast using voice commands. This works with both Amazon Echo and Google Home speakers, and you can set Spotify as your default music service.

For Amazon Echo: open the Alexa app → More → Settings → Music & Podcasts → Link New Service → Spotify. Sign in with your Spotify account. Then tap "Default Services" and set Spotify as the default. Now "Alexa, play jazz" automatically uses Spotify.

For Google Home: open the Google Home app → profile icon → Assistant Settings → Music → tap Spotify and link your account. Set Spotify as default. Now "Hey Google, play my Discover Weekly" plays from Spotify.

Once linked, try: "Play my Liked Songs." "Play the Daily Mix." "Play [artist name]." "Play [playlist name]." "What song is this?" You can also use Spotify Connect — open Spotify on your phone, start playing, tap "Devices Available," and select your speaker for full app-controlled playback.

Both free and premium Spotify accounts work. Free accounts have ads between songs; Premium has no ads and higher quality audio.
