Shipt is a same-day grocery delivery service that shops at stores like Target, Meijer, H-E-B, and others on your behalf and delivers everything to your front door — often within one to two hours. It is a great option if driving to the store is difficult or if you want to save time. A personal shopper picks your items, bags them, and brings them to you.
You can use Shipt two ways: with a membership or pay per order. The Shipt membership costs $99 per year (about $8.25 per month) and gives you free delivery on orders over $35. Without a membership, you pay a delivery fee on each order, which typically ranges from $7 to $10. If you shop for groceries regularly, the membership usually pays for itself within a few months.
To get started, go to shipt.com on your computer or download the free Shipt app from the App Store or Google Play. Create a free account with your email address and enter your delivery address. You will be asked for a payment method — a debit or credit card works.
Once you are set up, browse available stores in your area. Select your store, then add items to your cart the same way you would shop on any website. When your order is ready, choose a delivery window — many slots are available for the same day. You can even schedule deliveries for a specific day and time that works for your week.
After placing the order, Shipt assigns a personal shopper. You will receive text updates as they shop, and you can communicate directly with your shopper through the Shipt app if an item is out of stock and you want a substitution. This live communication is one of the most useful parts of the service.
When your groceries arrive, the shopper leaves them at your door. You do not need to be present for the delivery. Tipping your shopper is optional but appreciated — 15 to 20 percent of your order total is standard. You can add the tip in the app after delivery.
