    Create an account at skillshare.com

    ~26s
Go to skillshare.com and click "Get Started" or "Try for Free." Enter your email address and create a password. You'll be prompted to enter payment information for the subscription. Choose between monthly ($32/month) or annual billing (about $14/month, billed once per year). A trial period is available.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: The annual plan costs about the same as two months of monthly billing. If you find a class or two you want to complete, the annual plan is much better value.

    2

Find a class that interests you

    ~18s
Use the search bar to look up a specific topic, or browse the categories on the homepage — Creative Arts, Design, Marketing, Lifestyle, and more. Each class page shows the instructor's background, a short trailer, the number of students enrolled, and a lesson list. Student reviews are displayed openly and honestly.
    3

    Watch at your own pace

    ~27s
There are no scheduled class times. You watch whenever you want. Tap the first lesson to begin. Video lessons are usually 3 to 15 minutes each. You can pause, rewind, and watch any lesson as many times as you need. Your progress is saved automatically so you can return to exactly where you left off.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: Many Skillshare lessons include downloadable project files, templates, or reference materials. Check the "Projects & Resources" tab on the class page to download anything the instructor provides.

    Complete the class project

    ~17s
After finishing the lessons, look for the class project prompt. This is a hands-on activity that helps you put the lessons into practice. Complete the project and optionally share it in the class's student gallery. Looking at other students' projects can be just as educational as the lessons themselves.

Download the app for mobile learning

    ~17s
Search for "Skillshare" in the App Store or Google Play and install the free app. Sign in with your account. In the app, you can download class videos for offline viewing — useful when traveling or when your internet connection is limited. Downloaded classes appear in a "Saved" section.

Skillshare is an online learning platform focused on creative and practical skills. Unlike more formal education platforms, Skillshare specializes in shorter, project-focused classes taught by working professionals — graphic designers, photographers, writers, illustrators, entrepreneurs, and more.

Classes on Skillshare usually run between 30 minutes and 2 hours and are broken into short video lessons. At the end of most classes, there is a class project where you apply what you learned and can share your work with other students for feedback. This hands-on approach is one of the things that sets Skillshare apart from watching tutorials.

Skillshare operates on a subscription model: one flat monthly or annual fee gives you unlimited access to all classes. The annual plan is a lot cheaper per month than paying monthly. There is a free trial available, and some classes are available to non-subscribers for free.

The catalog covers a wide range of topics: graphic design, illustration, watercolor painting, photography, video editing, writing, calligraphy, business, marketing, animation, music production, and more. There are beginner classes for people picking up a skill for the first time, and intermediate classes for those looking to deepen existing knowledge.

Skillshare works on iPhone, Android, and in any web browser. Classes can be downloaded in the mobile app for offline viewing. Your progress across all classes is saved to your account.

If you have a creative hobby you've wanted to develop — or a professional skill you'd like to add — Skillshare is a low-cost, low-pressure way to explore it.
