How to Use Google Flights to Find Cheap Tickets

Search airfare across dozens of airlines at once and track price drops so you know when to book.

    1

    Open Google Flights

    ~15s
Go to google.com/flights in any web browser. You do not need to sign in to search, but signing in with a Google account lets you save trips.
    2

    Enter your cities and dates

    ~15s
Type your departure city in the "Where from?" box and your destination in the "Where to?" box. Pick your travel dates, or tap the date box and choose "Flexible dates" to see a calendar of prices.
    3

    Sort by price or duration

    ~15s
After you search, use the filters at the top to hide long layovers, pick preferred airlines, or cap the price. The cheapest results appear first by default.
    4

    Turn on price tracking

    ~15s
Pick a flight and toggle on "Track prices." Google will email you when the fare goes up or down so you know whether to book now or wait.
    5

    Book on the airline site

    ~15s
When you are ready, click "Select flight" and then "Continue." Google will send you to the airline's own website to pay. Booking direct usually makes changes and refunds easier than going through a third party.

Google Flights is a free website that shows prices for the same trip across many airlines on one page. It also lets you watch a route over weeks or months so you can see when prices are lowest.

You do not book through Google itself — once you find a good price, Google sends you to the airline or travel site to finish paying.
