    How to Use Instacart for Grocery Delivery

    Order groceries from local stores using Instacart and have them delivered to your door in as little as an hour.

    Download the Instacart app or go to instacart.com

    Download the Instacart app from the App Store or Google Play, or visit instacart.com on your computer. Tap "Get started" and enter your zip code to see which stores deliver to your address.

    Create an account

    Enter your name, email address, and create a password. You will need to add a delivery address and a payment method (credit or debit card). Instacart also accepts EBT/SNAP benefits at participating stores.

    Choose a store and add items to your cart

    Tap a store to browse its departments, or use the search bar to find specific items. Tap an item to add it to your cart. You can enter notes for the shopper, such as "ripe bananas preferred" or "any brand is fine."

    Choose a delivery time and check out

    When your cart is ready, tap "Go to checkout." Choose a delivery window — as fast as one hour, or schedule a future time. Review your order, tip your shopper (recommended: at least 10%), and place your order.

    Track your order and rate your shopper

    The app shows a live map as your shopper picks and delivers your order. You will get notifications when they start shopping and when they are on their way. After delivery, you can rate your shopper and report any substitutions or missing items for a refund.
