    How to Use the Snipping Tool on Windows

    Capture, annotate, and share screenshots with Windows' built-in Snipping Tool.

    Open Snipping Tool

    Press ⊞ Win+Shift+S for quick capture, or search "Snipping Tool" in Start for the full app.

    Choose a capture mode

    Select Rectangle, Free-form, Window, or Full-screen snip depending on what you need to capture.

    Capture the area

    Click and drag to select the area. The screenshot is copied to your clipboard and a notification appears.

    Annotate the screenshot

    Click the notification to open the editor. Use pen, highlighter, and eraser tools to mark up the image.

    Save or share

    Click Save (Ctrl+S) to save as a file, or use the Share button to send via email or apps.
