    Choose an editing app

    iPhone: iMovie is free and powerful. Android: Google Photos has basic editing, or try CapCut (free). Both platforms: CapCut and InShot are popular free editors.

    Import your video clips

    Open your editing app and create a new project. Select the video clips you want to use from your camera roll. Arrange them in the order you want.

    Trim and cut clips

    Drag the edges of a clip to shorten it. Remove boring parts at the beginning or end. Split a clip to remove a section from the middle.

    Add transitions

    Transitions are effects between clips (fade, dissolve, slide). Simple dissolves look professional. Avoid flashy transitions — they can look amateur.

    Add text and titles

    Add text overlays for titles, captions, or dates. Most apps offer animated text options. Keep text large enough to read on a phone screen.

    Add music

    Most editing apps include free background music. You can also add music from your library. Lower the music volume so you can still hear spoken audio in your clips.

    Export and share

    Tap Export or Save. Choose 1080p for good quality without huge file sizes. Share directly to Messages, email, Facebook, YouTube, or save to your camera roll.
