    Activate your voice assistant

    iPhone: say "Hey Siri" or hold the side button. Android: say "Hey Google" or hold the Home button. Amazon Echo/Alexa: say "Alexa." Make sure the microphone is not muted (on Alexa, the ring should be blue, not red).

    Calling & messaging: "Call [name]", "Text [name] I'm on my way", "Read my messages." Reminders: "Remind me to take my tablets at 8am every day", "Set a timer for 20 minutes." Weather: "What's the weather today?", "Will it rain tomorrow?" Navigation: "Directions to the nearest supermarket", "How long to drive to [place]?"

    You don't have to memorise these — just speak naturally. Say "Hey Siri, how do I turn off Bluetooth?" and it will help.

    If you have smart bulbs: "Alexa, turn off the living room lights", "Hey Google, dim the kitchen to 50%." For accessibility: "Hey Siri, increase text size", "Hey Google, read this page aloud", "Hey Siri, turn on magnifier." These commands work even if you have difficulty with small screens or buttons.
