Bluetooth Explained: What It Is and How to Use It

Bluetooth connects your phone to headphones, speakers, cars, and more — wirelessly.

    1

    What Bluetooth does

    ~15s
Bluetooth lets devices communicate wirelessly over short distances (up to 30 feet). It connects your phone to headphones, car audio, speakers, fitness trackers, and keyboards.
    2

    Turn Bluetooth on

    ~15s
iPhone: Settings > Bluetooth > toggle on. Android: Settings > Connected Devices > Bluetooth > toggle on.
    3

    Pair a device

    ~15s
Put your Bluetooth device into pairing mode (usually hold a button for a few seconds). On your phone, go to Bluetooth settings and tap the device name when it appears. You only pair once — devices reconnect automatically after that.

    Troubleshooting

    ~15s
If Bluetooth is not working: turn it off and on again, restart your phone, forget the device and pair again. Most problems are solved by a simple off/on cycle.
