Windows 11 includes a Widgets panel — a sidebar that shows live, at-a-glance information without opening any apps. You can access it by clicking the weather/news icon in the taskbar (usually showing the current temperature) or by pressing Windows key + W.
The default widgets include: - **Weather**: Current conditions and a five-day forecast - **News**: Top headlines personalized to your interests - **Calendar**: Your upcoming appointments and events - **Sports**: Scores and standings for your favorite teams - **Stocks/markets**: Price updates for stocks you follow - **Photos**: Your recent photos from OneDrive - **To Do**: Tasks from Microsoft To Do - **Traffic**: Current conditions on your commute route
You can add, remove, and rearrange widgets by clicking the pencil icon ("Edit widgets") at the top of the panel. Each widget can be resized — small, medium, or large — depending on how much detail you want to see.
The news feed at the bottom of the Widgets panel is personalized based on topics you follow. You can hide topics you are not interested in and add new ones.
Widgets is designed to be glanceable — you open it briefly, see what you need, and close it. It does not replace any apps; it simply gives you quick access to information you check frequently without opening a browser or multiple apps.
